Kathmandu – Passengers booking bus tickets through Nepal’s online bus ticketing platform, Bus Sewa, will now be able to access accident insurance coverage of up to Rs 500,000 for their journeys. The initiative aims to enhance passenger safety by providing financial protection against accidents during bus travel.
The service follows a recent agreement between Himalayan Everest Insurance and Bus Sewa. The agreement was signed by Bhupendra Shrestha, Chief Manager of Digital Sales at Himalayan Everest Insurance, and P.R. Khanal, Chief Executive Officer of Bus Sewa.
Under the agreement, passengers booking tickets through the Bus Sewa mobile application or website can choose accident insurance coverage ranging from Rs 100,000 to Rs 500,000 for their journey. The insurance coverage applies only while passengers are travelling on the bus.
According to Deepak Bika, Assistant Manager at Bus Sewa, the platform has added an option allowing passengers to select insurance coverage while booking their tickets online. This enables travellers to choose the available coverage as part of the ticket-booking process.
The partnership brings insurance services into the online bus ticketing process, giving passengers an additional option for protection during road travel. By integrating insurance selection into its digital platform, Bus Sewa aims to make travel-related insurance more accessible and convenient for passengers.
The initiative also reflects efforts by digital service providers and insurance companies to expand access to financial protection through online platforms. Passengers should review the applicable policy terms and conditions when selecting coverage.
