BYD International Balloon Festival to Elevate Pokhara’s Adventure Tourism
The picturesque city of Pokhara is set to soar to new heights with the BYD International Balloon Festival, taking place from December 24, 2024, to January 1, 2025. This highly anticipated event promises to revolutionize Nepal’s adventure tourism sector, bringing the spotlight back to the Himalayan nation in the post-pandemic era.
Nearly two dozen hot air balloons will grace the skies of Pokhara over the course of nine days, offering breathtaking views of the Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. The festival, organized by Balloon Nepal Pvt. Ltd., will unfold across the scenic Pame area, with balloons flying along a 3-kilometer stretch from Lauruk to Changkpur.
A Global Celebration of Adventure Tourism
This first-of-its-kind festival in Nepal aims to attract both domestic and international tourists, fostering economic growth and elevating Pokhara as a global adventure destination. Teams from the USA, Spain, Lithuania, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, Brazil, South Korea, Malaysia, and the UK will participate, adding an international flavor to the event.
During the 40-minute flights, participants will witness stunning sunrises and sunsets, along with nightly balloon glows, daily fireworks displays, balloon races, and night camps, ensuring an unforgettable experience for attendees.
Musical Extravaganza and Celebrity Endorsements
The festival will also feature daily musical performances by renowned Nepali artists such as Deepak Bajracharya & Team, Raju Lama & Mongolian Heart, Alina Chauhan, Kuma Sagar & Band, and talented local bands from Pokhara. Adding star power to the event, Nepali icons Rajesh Hamal and Priyanka Karki will serve as brand ambassadors.
