China praises Nepal for peaceful House of Representatives vote
Mao said that as traditional friendly neighbours, China attaches great importance to its relations with Nepal.
Beijing — China on Friday congratulated Nepal on the timely and smooth completion of voting for a new House of Representatives of Nepal and welcomed the country’s progress in advancing its national political agenda.
Speaking at a regular press briefing in Beijing, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said China appreciated Nepal’s efforts to conduct the polls peacefully.
According to Nepal’s election authorities, around 60 percent of eligible voters cast their ballots in the elections for the lower house of the Federal Parliament of Nepal, with voting largely peaceful across the country.

Mao said that as traditional friendly neighbours, China attaches great importance to its relations with Nepal. She noted that the two sides have consistently supported each other’s efforts to safeguard independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
China is willing to work with Nepal to promote the continued development of the China-Nepal strategic partnership of cooperation featuring lasting friendship for development and prosperity, she added.
