Chinese ambassador Zhang Maoming pays courtesy call on PM Sushila Karki
Kathmandu: A courtesy call was paid on Prime Minister Sushila Karki at Singha Durbar on Friday by the newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, H.E. Zhang Maoming.
During the meeting, congratulations were extended to Ambassador Zhang on his appointment, and best wishes were conveyed for a successful tenure. Confidence was expressed that the responsibility assigned to the envoy would be effectively carried out and that the long-standing friendly relations between Nepal and China would be further strengthened.
Gratitude was expressed by Ambassador Zhang for the time made available despite the prime minister’s schedule. Congratulations were also conveyed for the restoration of peace, security, and the rule of law, with assurances being cited that a peaceful environment for the upcoming elections has been ensured. China’s continued support for Nepal’s democratic process was also reaffirmed.
Appreciation was expressed from the Nepali side for the goodwill and cooperation received from China during Nepal’s electoral process. Ongoing support and partnership extended by China across multiple development sectors were also acknowledged on behalf of the government and the people of Nepal.
New Year greetings were exchanged on the occasion of the Year of the Horse, being celebrated by people in both countries.
Nepal’s commitment to the principles of Panchsheel and continued adherence to the One-China policy were reiterated, with assurances being reiterated that no activity harmful to a close neighbor would be allowed from Nepali territory. The need for stronger cooperation for regional peace and stability was also underlined, noting that instability in one country can create challenges for another.
Thanks were expressed by Ambassador Zhang, on behalf of the Chinese people and leadership, for Nepal’s consistent policy stance and commitment.
