Chinese higher education exhibition in Kathmandu
Kathmandu: The Nepal China Cultural and Educational Council, in collaboration with the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, is set to host the Chinese Higher Education Exhibition on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. The event will take place at Hotel Hyatt in Boudha, Kathmandu.
This one-day exhibition will feature 31 leading Chinese universities and colleges, offering insights into programs across engineering, medicine, language, culture, commerce, science and technology, aviation, sports, and agriculture.
According to Dr. Harishchandra Sah, President of the Nepal-China Cultural and Educational Council, each of the 31 university stalls will have experts available to inform Nepali students and their parents about the benefits of studying in China, including scholarships offered by the universities.
The event will be inaugurated at 9:30 am by Narayankaji Shrestha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs alongside Cheng Song, the Chinese Ambassador to Nepal.
With the support of the China Scholarship Council, the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, Nepal China Cultural and Educational Council has been successfully organizing the Chinese Educational Fair for more than a decade and a half.
The first Chinese educational exhibition was held in 2003, and it has been organized annually since then. He mentioned that around 500,000 students from 160 countries are studying in China, and each year the Chinese government provides over 200 scholarships to Nepali students.
Additionally, the number of self-financing students is increasing, which is why such exhibitions are held annually. This kind of educational exhibition is believed to not only inform Nepali students about Chinese education but also strengthen the friendly relations between the two countries.
