Chinese President’s Preferred Hongqi and BYD Brands Set to Enter Nepal
Kathmandu: Two of China’s most prestigious automobile brands Hongqi and BYD\ are preparing to enter the Nepali market as demand for Chinese electric and hybrid vehicles continues to grow.
According to the report, Laxmi E-Mobility has been appointed as the official distributor of China’s state-owned BAIC Group’s premium brands, BAIC and Arcfox, in Nepal. In the first phase, the company plans to introduce a powerful extended-range hybrid SUV to Nepali customers.
Alongside BAIC and Arcfox, the premium luxury brand Hongqi is also set to make its official debut in Nepal. The report states that Vishal Group has secured the rights to become the brand’s authorized distributor.
Hongqi is regarded as one of China’s most prestigious luxury automobile brands and is widely known for serving as the official vehicle used by senior Chinese government leaders. Special limousine models of Hongqi have been used during state ceremonies, including by Chinese President Xi Jinping, earning the brand the nickname “the Chinese President’s car.”
The arrival of these brands comes at a time when the popularity of Chinese electric and hybrid vehicles has been rising rapidly in Nepal. Industry observers expect the entry of Hongqi, BAIC, and Arcfox to intensify competition in Nepal’s automobile market.
The new brands are expected to provide consumers with more options in the premium SUV, luxury electric vehicle, and advanced mobility segments, further strengthening Nepal’s growing EV market.
