Lalitpur — Shops around Gwarko are seeing increased demand for colourful kites and kite spools as people prepare for Dashain, with the traditional activity becoming more visible across Kathmandu Valley.
Customers, particularly children and families, have been visiting local shops to purchase kites, spools and other kite-flying supplies ahead of the festival. The seasonal demand reflects the growing festive activity as Dashain celebrations get underway.
Kite flying has long been associated with Dashain in Nepal, becoming a popular recreational activity during the clear autumn weather following the monsoon. For many families, it is also a way to spend time together and enjoy the festive season outdoors.
The increase in kite sales around Gwarko is among the visible signs of Dashain preparations in the Valley, as markets and neighbourhoods become increasingly busy with festival-related activities.
