FIFA Suspends Nepal Football Association, International Participation Halted
Kathmandu-The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has been suspended by FIFA, the governing body of world football, citing undue third-party interference in the affairs of Nepali football.
The FIFA Council Bureau decided to suspend ANFA with immediate effect and until further notice. During the suspension period, Nepal’s national football teams and clubs will not be permitted to participate in official international competitions.The suspension is expected to have a significant impact on the country’s football activities, affecting players, clubs, officials, and ongoing development programs. The decision has sparked concern among Nepali football fans, especially at a time when global football events continue to capture worldwide attention.
ANFA has faced controversies and administrative disputes on several occasions in the past, with governance issues repeatedly drawing scrutiny from football authorities.The suspension will remain in place until FIFA is satisfied that the conditions leading to the decision have been fully addressed.
