Film South Asia festival kicks off in Lalitpur
The fourth edition of the Film South Asia Festival has started today in Lalitpur with the theme “Documentary in the Anthropocene.” The four-day event, taking place at Yalamaya Center, will showcase 47 short films and documentaries from various countries.
Films from Nepal, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and five other nations will be featured during the festival.
According to Pawas Manandhar, Assistant Director; this year’s festival introduces the “Best Film in the Climate Crisis” award. Other awards include Best Film, Jury Award, Best Student Film, and Best Debut Film, with filmmakers competing in these categories.
“The festival begins at 9 a.m. each day, and will also include a filmmaking workshop,” Manandhar shared with Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS). “It’s a golden opportunity for those who wish to watch or create documentaries.”
The workshop will feature Indian filmmaker Kabir Khan as one of the key speakers.
