Kathmandu – Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has returned home after completing a three-day official visit to India.
At the invitation of the Government of India, Wagle left for New Delhi on Thursday, leading a six-member delegation. During the visit, he participated in two high-level ministerial meetings as well as diplomatic, social, economic-business and academic engagements.
Speaking about the visit, Finance Minister Wagle said he conveyed the Government of Nepal’s gratitude to India for its assistance in rescue and relief efforts following the Bhotekoshi flood in Rasuwa.
He also proposed further cooperation with India for post-flood reconstruction. According to Wagle, the meetings were productive in discussing new ways to advance political, economic and diplomatic cooperation between Nepal and India.
On Thursday, Wagle met his Indian counterpart, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, where the two sides discussed various dimensions of Nepal-India economic cooperation.
On Friday, Wagle attended a high-level diplomatic dialogue hosted by former Indian Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran as the chief guest.
The same day, he met Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar. Later in the evening, he participated in a gathering hosted by Javed Ashraf, Chairman of the India Trade Promotion Organisation.
Wagle also met a delegation of Nepalis living in India on Friday.
On Saturday morning, the finance minister attended a programme organised by the Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi to mark Constitution Day.
Later that day, he participated as a keynote speaker at a conference organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry, which brought together representatives from prominent Indian business groups.
He also attended an academic discussion on development economics organised by the Delhi School of Economics as the chief guest before concluding his three-day visit.
