Flag Hoisting Ceremony Marks 80th Indonesian Independence Anniversary in Nepal
Kathmandu – The Office of the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Indonesia in Nepal commemorated the 80th anniversary of Indonesian Independence with a flag hoisting ceremony at the IME Complex, Panipokhari, on Saturday.
Chandra Prasad Dhakal, Honorary Consul of Indonesia in Nepal and Chairman of IME Group, unfurled the red and white Indonesian flag to mark the historic occasion.
In his address, Dhakal reflected on the enduring friendship between Nepal and Indonesia, noting that diplomatic relations established in 1960 have gained steady momentum in recent years. As the President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Dhakal emphasized that the two nations have made notable progress in trade, tourism, and cultural exchanges.
“Both countries are actively engaging in initiatives that promote mutual benefit, including cultural exchanges and tourism collaboration,” Dhakal said, underlining shared values and deepening cooperation.
He further pointed out Indonesia’s growing role as a key trade partner for Nepal and highlighted its significance as the largest economy in ASEAN and a prominent regional tourism hub.
Acknowledging the participation of the Indonesian community in Nepal, Dhakal expressed gratitude for their presence at the ceremony. “Your presence here today reflects the strength of our relationship and our shared commitment to a prosperous and unified future,” he remarked.
The ceremony, attended by members of the Indonesian community, dignitaries, and well-wishers, underscored Indonesia’s cultural and economic importance while spotlighting opportunities for expanded collaboration. Dhakal remarked that both Nepal and Indonesia, with their rich natural and cultural heritage, have vast potential for enhancing business and tourism ties.
