Flood Risk Alert Issued for 32 Districts Across Nepal

Kathmandu-The Flood Forecasting Division has warned of flood risks in 32 districts across Nepal today, including Taplejung, Panchthar, Ilam, Jhapa, Morang, Sankhuwasabha, Dolakha, Ramechhap, Kavrepalanchok, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Sindhupalchok, Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, Lamjung, Kaski, Parbat, Baglung, Myagdi, Humla, Bajhang, Bajura, Achham, Doti, Kanchanpur, Dadeldhura, Baitadi, and Darchula.

The division has urged people living near rivers and streams in and around these districts to remain alert. Water levels in the Narayani, Karnali, Mahakali, and Bagmati rivers, along with their tributaries, are expected to rise significantly.

Although the flow of the Koshi, Narayani, Bagmati, Karnali, Mahakali, and their tributaries, as well as the Kankai, Kamala, Babai, East Rapti, and West Rapti rivers, remains below the official warning level, authorities have cautioned that conditions could change rapidly.

The Mahakali River basin has been identified as an area of particular concern, with residents along its banks advised to exercise heightened caution. Local governments, security agencies, and other relevant authorities have been requested to continuously monitor river conditions, provide timely updates to communities, and maintain preparedness for any emergency.

The Flood Forecasting Division has also advised the public to regularly follow official weather and flood updates and avoid unnecessary travel or activities near rivers, as continued rainfall could further increase flood risks.
