Former PM KP Sharma Oli and ex-home minister Ramesh Lekhak released on bail
Kathmandu – Former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak have been released on bail by police after the expiration of their remand period.
Oli was handed over to his family from the hospital, where he had been receiving treatment. The release follows a court order issued earlier this week, which directed authorities to free both individuals after the completion of their five-day extension granted by the Kathmandu District Court.
The latest five-day remand ended last night, leading to their release today. Oli and Lekhak had been arrested on the 14th, a day after a Cabinet meeting decided to implement the recommendations of an investigative commission led by Gauri Bahadur Karki.
The commission had recommended a criminal investigation against the two, citing negligence and irresponsible conduct that allegedly led to human casualties.
