Four New Petrol SUVs Set to Enter Nepal Market
Four new petrol-powered SUVs are preparing to enter the Nepali automobile market at a time when sales of conventional fuel vehicles are increasing once again. While the country has seen a rapid rise in electric vehicle adoption in recent years, data from the current fiscal year 2025/26 shows that imports of petrol cars have grown by nearly 54 percent. This trend has encouraged major automobile distributors to strengthen their petrol portfolio and introduce new SUV models for Nepali buyers.
Growing Demand for Petrol Vehicles
Despite government incentives for electric mobility, a large portion of Nepali consumers continue to prefer traditional fuel vehicles due to familiarity, longdistance capability, and easy refueling. The market had seen fewer new petrol SUV launches over the past few years as manufacturers focused on EV and hybrid development, but dealerships are now stepping forward with a fresh lineup.
Skoda, Hyundai, Tata, and Suzuki are preparing to introduce new SUVs in the coming months. These include the Skoda Kylaq, the secondgeneration Hyundai Venue, Tata Sierra, and Suzuki Victoris. Industry estimates suggest that these upcoming models will be priced between NPR 4 million and NPR 7.5 million depending on engine, features, and trim level. The new vehicles are expected to target middle to premium segment buyers who want performance upgrades and more advanced in-car technology without switching to electric.
Suzuki Victoris to Launch by mid-February

Among the most anticipated models is the Suzuki Victoris, scheduled for launch by mid-February. CG Motocorp plans to introduce multiple variants, with estimated pricing starting around NPR 5.2 million and reaching up to NPR 7.5 million for the top trims.
The Victoris is designed with a strong focus on connected and assisted driving technology. Key features include Level 2 ADAS, a 10.25 inch infotainment system, a 7 inch digital driver display, and ventilated front seats. Additional equipment includes wireless phone projection, a wireless charger, cruise control, a 360 degree camera, tire pressure monitoring, and six airbags for safety. The SUV will be available with two engine options, a 1.5 liter petrol engine and a 1.5 liter petrol hybrid for better fuel economy.
Skoda Kylaq Expanding the Brand’s SUV Range

Skoda is preparing to bring the Kylaq, which will become the brand’s entry level SUV in Nepal. Although slightly shorter than the four meter category, it aims to compete strongly with modern design language and a feature rich interior. The cabin is equipped with dual tone leatherette seating, a two spoke steering wheel, a 10 inch touchscreen infotainment system, and an 8 inch digital instrument cluster.
Higher variants will offer wireless smartphone integration, wireless charging, ventilated front seats, and a single panel sunroof. The Kylaq will be powered by a 1.0 liter turbocharged TSI petrol engine producing 115 horsepower and 178 Nm of torque. Skoda MAW is expected to launch up to seven variants starting around NPR 4.5 million, with sales likely to begin from January.
Hyundai Venue Receives Major Design Improvements

The second generation Hyundai Venue is expected to reach the market by mid-February. The new model comes with noticeable design upgrades including a revised grille, reworked headlamp and bumper styling, and refreshed rear lighting elements for a more premium look.
Inside, Hyundai has updated the dashboard, steering design, seating materials, and infotainment system. The Venue will continue offering the existing engine lineup which includes a 1.2 liter naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.0 liter turbo petrol, and a 1.5 liter diesel engine, giving buyers multiple performance choices.
Tata Sierra Returns with Strong Power Output

The Tata Sierra, one of the most talked about launches, is set to reenter the market with a bold new design. The SUV features a full LED lighting setup, muscular body proportions, flush door handles, and large 19 inch alloy wheels. Inside, it introduces a three screen layout consisting of two 12.3 inch displays and a 10.25 inch central touchscreen.
The Sierra will be offered with a 1.5 liter direct injection turbo petrol engine delivering 170 horsepower and 280 Nm of torque, paired with either a six speed manual or seven speed automatic gearbox. Tata will also offer a diesel variant producing 118 horsepower and 260 Nm of torque. Advanced safety features include six airbags, Level 2 ADAS, cruise control, and a 360 degree camera. Sipradi Trading is expected to begin sales by March.
With multiple new launches scheduled, automobile distributors are signaling continued confidence in petrol vehicles. Although electric vehicle adoption continues growing steadily in urban centers, the surge in petrol SUV imports shows that buyers still value traditional powertrains for long range travel, established maintenance networks, and familiar driving performance. The upcoming launches are set to make Nepal’s mid and premium SUV market more competitive in the coming months.
