Full-scale emergency exercise conducted at Tribhuvan International Airport
Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) held a full-scale emergency exercise on Monday afternoon, involving security personnel, medical workers, rescue teams, and aviation staff.
The TIA Civil Aviation Office under the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal organized the mock drill focused on rescue operations during a plane crash to improve stakeholder coordination and minimize potential losses in real emergencies. The exercise briefly affected airport operations, with flights halted between 1 PM and 1:30 PM.
The International Civil Aviation Organization mandates that international airports conduct a full-scale aerodrome emergency exercise at least once every two years as part of their Aerodrome Emergency Plan.
