Kathmandu — Sacred offerings brought from Gorkha to Kathmandu marked the traditional Fulpati ceremony at Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Square on Saturday, reviving a centuries-old ritual rooted in Nepal’s royal history and religious traditions as the country entered the main days of Dashain festivities.

At Hanuman Dhoka, the historic palace complex in Kathmandu Durbar Square, the ceremony preserves a significant link between Nepal’s religious customs, royal history and cultural identity.

Fulpati marks an important stage in Dashain, Nepal’s biggest Hindu festival, as families gather for worship, receive blessings from elders and prepare for the main days of celebration.

With Dashain holidays beginning Saturday, the Fulpati ceremony has added to the festive atmosphere across the country, showcasing the continuity of Nepal’s living cultural heritage.
