Kathmandu – A track has been opened along the Galchhi-Betrawati road section damaged by the Rasuwa floods.
Infrastructure Minister Sunil Lamsal said public movement along the road section has resumed following the opening of the track.
According to Minister Lamsal’s secretariat, the section, which serves as a major road link to Rasuwa, has been reopened, but work to level the road and lay gravel remains.
Lamsal has urged everyone to facilitate the ongoing construction and maintenance work, saying heavy traffic while the work is underway has been affecting construction activities.
Following the completion of track-opening work, preparations are also underway to install a Bailey bridge along the road section. The foundation for the Bailey bridge on the Nuwakot side has already been prepared, and preparations for its installation have begun with the support of the Nepal Army.
The foundation for the Bailey bridge on the Rasuwa side is also in its final stage, Lamsal said. The ministry said work is being expedited with a target of completing the Bailey bridge installation within a week.
Travel to and from Rasuwa had been affected after the floods damaged the road infrastructure. The reopening of the track is expected to facilitate transportation, while the installation of the Bailey bridge is expected to improve road connectivity further.
