Gogoro Launches Nepal’s First EV Buyback Program, Promising Long-Term Value for Scooter Owners
Kathmandu – In a significant move for Nepal’s electric vehicle (EV) market, Nebula Energy, the authorized distributor of Gogoro scooters, has launched the country’s first-ever Buyback Guarantee for electric two-wheelers. The program, which took effect on August 4, offers customers a guaranteed resale value of NPR 1 lakh within five years or 40,000 kilometers, whichever comes first.
This initiative makes Gogoro the first electric scooter brand in Nepal to offer a guaranteed buyback, addressing a major concern among EV buyers: declining resale value due to battery degradation.
Unlike traditional electric scooters, Gogoro operates on a battery swapping model, where users don’t own the battery. Instead, they access a network of smart, centrally managed battery stations. This allows Gogoro to maintain consistent battery performance and offer buyers added peace of mind, a key factor behind its ability to offer such a buyback assurance.
“Gogoro is here to build the future of mobility in Nepal,” said Chiranjibi Shah, General Manager at Nebula Energy. “We didn’t launch until we had built the backbone of our ecosystem, a citywide network of 45 battery swapping stations. With the Buyback Guarantee, we’re taking that commitment even further.”
