Kathmandu – Employees of Himalaya Airlines have contributed NPR 13.2 lakh (NPR 1,320,666) to support people affected by the Rasuwa floods. The amount has been deposited into the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund to assist rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts for flood-affected communities.
The airline employees had voluntarily collected a total of NPR 14.7 lakh (NPR 1,470,666) for the humanitarian initiative. Out of the collected amount, 10 percent was provided to the families of employees affected by the disaster, while the remaining amount was donated to the government relief fund.
The cheque was handed over to Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Khadga Raj (Ganesh) Paudel by Himalaya Airlines Vice President Vijay Shrestha on behalf of the airline’s employees.
Along with financial assistance, Himalaya Airlines employees also collected clothes and essential materials for flood-affected communities and handed them over to the Kathmandu School of Law. The collected materials will be distributed to affected people through the institution.
Himalaya Airlines stated that the support initiative reflects its commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and humanitarian assistance during times of natural disasters. The airline said it will continue supporting affected communities through relief and community-focused programmes.
