Historic Double Summit: Himalayan Team Conquers Everest and Lhotse in Spring 2026
A team from Himalayan Mountaineering Expedition has achieved a historic milestone by successfully summiting both Mount Everest and Lhotse during the 2026 spring climbing season.
The expedition team reached the summit of Lhotse at 11:25 AM on May 18, becoming the first team of the season to complete successful ascents of both Himalayan peaks. Earlier, the same climbers had summited Mount Everest on May 14 at 8:56 AM, becoming the second team to reach the world’s highest peak this season after the rope-fixing team.
Following their Everest ascent, the climbers safely descended to Camp 2 for rest and recovery before launching their final push toward Lhotse. The successful double summit highlighted the team’s endurance, technical skill, and determination in one of the world’s most challenging mountaineering environments.

The summit team included Chinese climber Shi Junji and Nepali climbers Ningma Dorje Tamang and Dawa Nuru Sherpa.The achievement has been celebrated as a remarkable moment in the 2026 Himalayan climbing season and a symbol of cooperation between Nepali and Chinese mountaineers.
