Historic oath-taking ceremony held for new MPs at Singha Durbar
Kathmandu – The newly elected members of the House of Representatives took the oath of office and secrecy this afternoon at a temporary hall within the under-construction Parliament Building in Singha Durbar.
The oath was administered by Arjun Narasingh KC, the senior-most member of the Nepali Congress. A total of 63 MPs took the oath in their native languages, underscoring Nepal’s cultural diversity.
Many MPs attended the ceremony dressed in traditional attire, contributing to the cultural significance of the event.
The Federal Parliament Secretariat had previously instructed all MPs to arrive two hours before the scheduled time, bringing their election certificates from the Election Commission, a copy of their Nepali citizenship, and two recent passport-sized photographs.
