Lalitpur — Home Minister Sudhan Gurung visited Chyasal in Lalitpur on Friday to inspect the rising water level of the Manohara River, which has raised concerns about possible flooding near the headquarters of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist), or CPN-UML.
Continuous rainfall has increased the river’s water level and flow, posing a potential threat to the party office and nearby settlements.
During his visit, Gurung assessed the river’s condition and reviewed the potential flood risks in the surrounding area. The inspection comes amid growing concerns over rising water levels following persistent rainfall in the Kathmandu Valley.
The UML headquarters in Chyasal has experienced flooding in the past, making the area particularly vulnerable during periods of heavy rainfall.
Security personnel have also been alerting residents near the riverbanks to remain cautious as water levels continue to rise.
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast continued rainfall in several parts of the country, raising concerns about further increases in river levels.
Authorities have urged people living in flood-prone areas to remain vigilant, avoid approaching swollen rivers and follow official weather and flood warnings.
