Lalitpur — A house in Dhapakhel, Lalitpur Metropolitan City–24, collapsed from its foundation following continuous rainfall and weakening soil conditions.
According to Lalitpur Police, the house belonged to Sotikumar Thapa and was located on sloping land. Authorities had identified the property as being at risk due to prolonged rainfall and had advised the homeowner a day earlier to vacate the house.
As the house had already been evacuated, no casualties were reported in the incident.
Police said continuous rainfall had weakened the soil around the property, eventually causing the house to collapse from its foundation. The incident has also highlighted the risk of structural damage in hillside areas during periods of prolonged rainfall.
