HTC Forays in Nepal with 5 Desire Phones
October 3: Taiwanese handset maker HTC has officially entered in Nepal. The company on October 2 unveiled five mid-range smartphones under its Desire series amid a function held at the capital. Partnering with Genxt, HTC introduced Desire 630, Desire 628, Desire 626 LTE, Desire 728 and Desire 830 ranging from Rs 22,935 to Rs 34,045. The handsets were jointly unveiled by MP and former education minister Chitralekha Yadav, her husband Krishna Yadav, Genxt Managing Director Pawan Bhimsaria, Director Nikeeta Bhimsaria and officials from HTC.
Among the handsets, 630, 628 and 626 LTE are 5 inch devices whereas, the latter two are 5.5 inch smartphones. Priced at Rs 24,519, the 140 grams Desire 630 comes with a Super LCD HD display with 229 ppi pixel density. The dual-SIM phone which runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 1.6 GHz quad-core processor, Adreno 305 GPU and 2 GB RAM. It has 16 GB internal memory and houses a microSD slot that can be used to expand the handset’s storage up to 256 GB. The phone is equipped with a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front snapper. It sports a 2,200 mAh removable Li-Ion battery.
Meanwhile, Desire 628 also comes with a HD IPS LCD display and is equipped with 1.3 GHZ octa-core processor, 3 GB RAM, 13MP back camera and 5MP front camera. It runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop) and comes with 32 GB storage which is expandable up to 256 GB. Carrying a price tag of Rs 25,568, the dual-SIM handset has 2,200 mAh battery. Similarly, the 626 LTE model is also a HD display handset that comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 and Mediatek MT6752 processor variants. It has a 13MP OIS primary camera with features including 1.12 µm pixels, HDR and touch focus and a 4MP secondary snapper. It comes with 3 GB RAM and has 32 GB ROM which is expandable up to 256 GB via a dedicated slot. It houses Mali-T760MP2 GPU, a 2,800 mAh battery and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat).
The Desire 728 is powered by a 1.3 GHz Cortex A-53 octa-core processor and has 2 GB RAM and 16 GB on-board memory which is expandable up to 256 GB. It comes with 13MP primary camera and 5MP secondary snapper. A 2,800 non-removable Li-Po battery provides power backup to the device. It is priced at Rs 23,815. Likewise, the Desire 830 is the upper mid-end HTC smartphone that comes with a full-HD display (401 ppi pixel density) and is powered by a 1.5 GHz octa-core processor and 3 GB RAM. It has 13MP OIS rear and 4MP front facing cameras. The dual-SIM phone has a 2,800 non-removable mAh battery and has 32 GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 256 GB via a microSD card slot. The handset is available at Rs 34,045 in the market.
In the launch event, the company also informed that it will also introduce entry-level and high-end models in Nepal next month. The company is offering free Genxt powerbank on the purchase of every smartphone as Dashain Offer.
