International Conference on Inclusive Insurance (ICII 2024) begins in Kathmandu
The 20th edition of the International Conference on Inclusive Insurance (ICII 2024) began yesterday in Kathmandu. Organized by the Nepal Insurance Authority, Nepal Insurers’ Association, Jeevan Bimak Sangh Nepal, and Nepal Microinsurance Association, in collaboration with Munich Re Foundation and the Microinsurance Network, the conference aims to address key issues in the sector.
Running until October 25, the event will focus on enhancing inclusive insurance for low-income and vulnerable families, as well as micro, small, and medium enterprises. Discussions will cover topics such as climate risk insurance, the adoption of digital technologies in microinsurance, and strategies to overcome barriers in the inclusive insurance sector.
The conference sessions will feature presentations and discussions on critical subjects, including climate change and disaster risk financing, challenges and opportunities in the insurance industry, the development and adoption of digital technologies in insurance, and expanding insurance coverage.
The event has drawn over 400 participants, including regulatory bodies, development partners, NGOs, and insurance experts from Nepal and other countries.
The conference is expected to be a milestone in advancing inclusive insurance to reduce financial risks for economically disadvantaged groups and small businesses.
