Kathmandu — The second edition of the Kathmandu Horror Film Festival (KHFF) will be held from October 30 to November 1, 2026, at the Russian House in Kamal Pokhari, Kathmandu, bringing horror and genre films from Nepal and around the world to local audiences.
Organised by the Nepal Film & Cultural Academy (NFCA), the three-day festival will showcase 26 films from 21 countries, including eight feature films and 18 short films.
The selected films explore genres including horror, thriller, supernatural, dark fantasy and folklore-based cinema. The programme includes five Nepali productions or co-productions, providing local filmmakers an opportunity to present their work alongside international productions.
The feature-film selection includes productions from countries such as the United Kingdom, Serbia, the United States, Canada, Iran and France, as well as the Australia-Nepal co-production Mokshya.
Nepali titles in the short-film selection include KNAR, Sinner, Lakhey and A.L.I.C.E., highlighting different approaches to horror and genre storytelling by local filmmakers.
The festival aims to provide a platform for filmmakers working in horror, fantasy and folklore-based cinema while introducing Nepali audiences to international genre films. Organisers also see the festival as an opportunity to encourage discussion around subjects such as folklore, psychology, society and identity through genre filmmaking.
The Kathmandu Horror Film Festival was first held in 2025 and is dedicated to horror and related genres. The second edition continues its focus on connecting Nepali filmmakers and audiences with international genre cinema.
The festival will run for three days at Russian House, Kamal Pokhari, from October 30 to November 1, 2026.
