Kathmandu Hosts “Charya Pravah” to celebrate Nepal’s Sacred Charya Heritage
Kathmandu – A historic cultural program titled “Charya Pravah” was organized at the National Theatre in Jamal, Kathmandu, on Saturday to honor renowned Charya Buddhist philosophy and dance guru Yagya Man Pati Bajracharya for his outstanding contribution to the preservation and promotion of Charya traditions.
The event was jointly organized by Kathmandu Metropolitan City, UNESCO and Kathmandu City of Films in collaboration with Nepa: Dance Academy, Bouddha Darshan Adhyayan Puchah and Nepa Cultural Puchah.
During the program, various artists performed Charya dances to pay tribute to Guru Bajracharya’s lifelong dedication to Buddhist philosophy and sacred dance traditions.
Speaking at the event, Guru Bajracharya expressed he could feel the divine presence of deities throughout the spiritual and cultural gathering. “Such a program is extremely rare. Today, I truly feel the meaning and fulfillment of my life,” he said, expressing gratitude to Kathmandu Metropolitan City for the recognition.
Acting Mayor Sunita Dangol said Guru Bajracharya has been providing equal education and guidance to all people regardless of caste, age, class or community. She added that the event was organized to honor cultural figures who have continuously worked for the preservation of Nepal’s heritage.
The program was coordinated by chief coordinator Rina Maharjan of Nepa: Dance Academy along with chairman Rohiya Maharjan and Managing Director Gambhir Man Singh. Organizers stated that “Charya Pravah” has played an important role in preserving and promoting Nepal’s invaluable intangible cultural heritage.
