Kathmandu Metropolitan City initiates local product exhibition
Kathmandu Metropolitan City has begun showcasing and selling products made by local wards at the NB Center in New Baneshwor under the “Ek Ward, Ek Namuna Udhyam Karyakram” (One Ward, One Model Enterprise Program). The agreement for this initiative was signed on Bhadra 30 by Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol; Samikshya Niroula, Chief of the Social Development Department; and Nirusha Rajbhandari, Executive Direction of Aspire Venture.
Starting from 4 Asoj, stalls displaying and promoting products from model enterprises will be set up every Friday and Saturday for one year, with no charge for stall space.
On the inaugural Friday, 17 stalls were set up. According to Devaki Ghimire, enterprise development facilitator, products from 15 selected model enterprises are being featured, including groups from wards 6 and 14 as part of a small enterprise development program aimed at poverty alleviation.
Model enterprises include Gundruk and Masyura from wards 1 and 30, Masyura and Titaura from ward 2, felt products from wards 3 and 4, ceramics from ward 5, and crystal and bead jewelry from ward 7.
Other model enterprises feature items such as Duna Tapari and Rudraksha caps from ward 8, Rudraksha malas and incense from ward 9, and pickles from wards 10 and 32.
Ward 5 has also received technology transfer to enhance production capabilities in pottery-making, marking a significant step in enterprise development.
