Kazakhstan’s Kalinova to play for Madhesh United in Everest Women’s Volleyball League
For the first time, the Everest Women’s Volleyball League (EWVL), a franchise-based women’s volleyball tournament, is being organized by Infinity Dreams. Madhesh United, one of the participating teams, is thrilled to announce their first foreign player signing, Kazakhstani volleyball star Yevgeniya Kalinova.
Kalinova, a seasoned player from Kazakhstan, will join Madhesh United as a spiker in the inaugural edition of the EWVL. The 35-year-old, standing at 180 cm, has extensive experience playing for both Kazakhstan’s national team and in the Kazakhstani league.
Expressing her excitement about joining the team, Kalinova said, “I am excited to come to Nepal to play in the first Everest Women’s Volleyball League and to represent Madhesh United. I hope you will support our team.”
Sangya Shrestha, Operations Head of Madhesh United, welcomed Kalinova to the team, stating that her experience will greatly benefit the squad.
Madhesh United’s marquee player is Nepali national team spiker Niruta Thagunna. Other previously announced players include national team members Sangam Mahato and Shanti Kala Tamang, along with U20 players Elisha Manandhar and Ashika Kshetri. The team also features Hira KC, Puja Tharu, and Jasna Mahato.
A total of six teams will compete in the first edition of the Everest Women’s Volleyball League.
