Kathmandu – The government has started technical studies on a tunnel or viaduct at Krishnabhir to find a long-term solution to frequent landslides and traffic disruptions along the Prithvi Highway.
Dr. Bijaya Jaishi, Director General at Department of Roads said a technical report on the two options is expected within about two months. The government plans to begin the tendering process after the study is completed.
Meanwhile, work has started on an alternative route towards Fishling and Benighat, including cutting around 1.5 kilometres of hillside. The alternative route is expected to help maintain traffic when the main highway is disrupted.
