Landslide Clearance Underway on Prithvi Highway; Kathmandu-Muglin Road Remains Closed

Kathmandu – Police have said that efforts are ongoing to clear landslides that have blocked sections of the Prithvi Highway at multiple locations.
Two landslides have occurred near Jwang Khola in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality–10 of Dhading district, while another has blocked the road at Phisling in Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality-3 of Chitwan.Authorities are continuing clearance operations in both Dhading and Chitwan.

According to the Chitwan District Police Office, the Narayangadh–Muglin–Pokhara road section remains open to traffic. However, the Muglin–Kathmandu route is still closed due to the landslides. Vehicles have been stopped in the Kurintar area until the road is cleared.Dhading District Police spokesperson DSP Prakash Dahal said it is expected to take several more hours to remove the debris on the Dhading section of the highway.

Police have also halted vehicles at Nagdhunga, on the Kathmandu–Dhading border, and at Simle due to the prolonged road closure.As a precaution against the risk of landslides during heavy rainfall, Dhading Police had already suspended nighttime vehicle movement from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Since fresh landslides occurred, traffic restrictions remain in place.

Meanwhile, the BP Highway has reopened after mud and debris covering the road at Thali in Roshi Rural Municipality-3, Kavrepalanchok, were cleared, according to the Kavrepalanchok District Police Office.
