Kathmandu — Newly appointed Film Development Board Chairman Manish Pandit has formally assumed office, taking charge at the Board’s office in Kathmandu on Monday.
Pandit was welcomed by Board employees and officials with traditional garlands as he arrived to begin his tenure. Before assuming office, he received his appointment letter from the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology.
The Cabinet meeting held on October 16 decided to appoint Pandit as the new chairman of the Film Development Board. A total of 12 candidates had presented their professional work plans for the position.
Following the selection process, the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology shortlisted Pandit, Naresh Kumar Poudel and Nisha Adhikari as the final three candidates for the chairmanship.
Pandit has previously been involved in the implementation of Nepal’s box office system. During the tenure of former Board Chairperson Nikta Poudel, he played a role in bringing box-office software to the Nepali film industry.
Pandit is also involved in film production and has experience working in Nepal’s film sector.
His appointment comes as the Film Development Board continues to work on strengthening the country’s film industry, including improvements in film-related systems and industry infrastructure.
