NADA Urges Peace as Unrest Disrupts Businesses

KATHMANDU: The NADA Automobiles Association of Nepal (NADA) has expressed serious concern over the recent violence and unrest in eastern Nepal, particularly in Kaptangunj of Sunsari district and parts of the Tarai, urging all sides to resolve disputes peacefully through dialogue and democratic means.

In a press statement issued on Friday, NADA said Nepal has long been recognized as a nation of religious, linguistic, ethnic, and cultural diversity, where unity, mutual respect, tolerance, and social harmony have remained the country’s greatest strengths.

The association stated that while the Constitution guarantees every citizen the fundamental right to express opinions, disagreements, and demands through peaceful and democratic means, violence, vandalism, unrest, and any activities that threaten social harmony cannot be accepted under any circumstances.

NADA warned that such incidents not only undermine peace and public security but also disrupt the daily lives of citizens, negatively affect businesses, discourage investment, slow economic activities, and weaken the national economy. It noted that the business community remains deeply concerned about the growing impact of the unrest.

The association appealed to all concerned parties to exercise restraint and seek an early resolution through legal and democratic processes, dialogue, and mutual understanding.

It also urged the Government of Nepal and relevant authorities to ensure peace, security, and the protection of citizens and property, while taking immediate steps to restore normal public life and create a stable environment for businesses to operate.

Concluding its statement, NADA called on all Nepalis to play a positive role in strengthening social harmony, national unity, mutual respect, and tolerance, emphasizing that these values are essential for maintaining peace and supporting the country’s economic and social progress.
