Kathmandu — Vehicles using the Nagdhunga–Sisnekhola Tunnel Road are now subject to road-use fees following the introduction of a new toll system by the Nagdhunga Tunnel Construction Project.
The toll rates have been set according to vehicle category and direction of travel, with separate charges for vehicles entering and leaving Kathmandu. The rates were approved by the Road Board Nepal Executive Committee and published in the Nepal Gazette.
Under the new fee structure, cars, vans, pickups, tractors and microbuses will pay Rs. 65 when entering Kathmandu and Rs. 60 when exiting.
Minibuses and mini-tippers or trucks will be charged Rs. 115 for entry and Rs. 80 for exit. Buses and single rear-axle trucks will pay Rs. 260 when entering Kathmandu and Rs. 200 when leaving.
For multi-axle trucks and heavy equipment vehicles, the toll has been fixed at Rs. 600 for entry and Rs. 250 for exit.
The Nagdhunga Tunnel was formally inaugurated in July 2026 and has provided an alternative route through the Nagdhunga section, which has historically experienced traffic congestion and difficult road conditions.
The introduction of toll collection marks the transition to regular paid use of the tunnel, with charges varying according to vehicle size, type and direction of travel.
