National ID Card now integrated into Nagarik App

The National ID Card (NID) is now integrated into the Nagarik App, effective from Magh 1, 2080 (January 14, 2024). This milestone simplifies access to government and financial services, making processes more efficient for Nepali citizens.

The NID is mandatory for opening new bank accounts and completing KYC verifications. This directive ensures streamlined services through the app’s digital platform.

The Nagarik App also offers features like police clearance reports, vehicle tax payments, e-Chalan for traffic fines, and municipal updates. Health services, including COVID-19 vaccine pre-registration, add to its usability.

While some experts praise the app’s potential for improving governance, others express concerns about data security and feature consistency. Despite challenges, the integration highlights Nepal’s digital transformation and citizen-friendly service delivery progress.
