National Robotics Competition to take place in Kathmandu
November 23, 2016: Organizers of Yantra 5.0 are hosting a international-level robotics competition on the 30th of November, 2016
Yantra started as a national robotics competition initiated by Robotics Association of Nepal in 2010 but this year the fifth edition of Yantra is not just a robotics competition but also an Art, Science and Technology Festival.
The Robotics Association of Nepal, Bikalpa Arts Foundation invite members of the Press to the National Robotics Competition to be held on the 30th of November, 2016 at the Army Physical Training and Sports Centre, Lagankhel.
This event will include the fifty three participating teams from more than 20 colleges and higher-secondary schools. About 250 competitors from Biratnagar,Pokhara,Chitwan and Kathmandu will take part in four separate events on the day. This year’s competition will include three different challenges. The first challenge is Krishicopter is the main event of the robotics competition; Participants have to build a drone using any softwares or android applications. The second challenge, Yantra Racer, is an entry-level competition for participants under age of 20. Participants have to build an automatic white line tracking robot and then race for first place. The final challenge Yantra Akhada, is an open competition. Like sumo wrestling, one robot has to push other out of game arena to win. Winners of each section will receive cash prizes.
This competition will begin at 8:30 am and conclude by 3:30 pm. The event will be inaugurated by Dr. Krishna Chandra Paudel, Secretary of Ministry of Science Technology and Environment at 10:00 am and awards will be given by Tom Igoe, Prof. at New York University and co-founder of Arduino at 3:30 pm.
It will also be the penultimate event before the official closing of Yantra 4.0 on Saturday, 15th of November which will be held at the on-going Yantra Art-Tech exhibition at the Nepal Art Council.
