NavaNexa Tech launched Nepal’s first super app NChat
Kathmandu – NavaNexa Tech on Friday officially launched NChat, described by the company as Nepal’s first communication-first CPS (Communication, Payments, and Services) super app, at a public event held at KMC College in Kathmandu. The application has been made available for download on both the iOS and Android app stores from January 31.
In a symbolic opening aimed at highlighting inclusivity, the official inauguration was carried out by representatives from multiple generations: Baby Boomers (1946–1964), Generation X (1965–1981), Generation Y/Millennials (1981–1996), Generation Z (1997–2012), and Generation Alpha (2013–2025), with the company positioning the gesture as a message that NChat is designed to be user-friendly across age groups.
Developed in Nepal over around 11 months, NChat has been positioned as a platform that combines messaging, voice and video calls, voice notes, and real-time translation, while also enabling users to make payments, book services, and shop within the app—linking communication with everyday transactions and services.
“NChat is built for Nepal’s realities—simple to use, fast, and designed to bring multiple daily needs into one trusted platform,” Dhiren Hamal, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of NavaNexa Tech, said.
NChat highlights accessibility and translation features
According to the company, NChat supports wider user groups, including seniors and users who may find typing or reading difficult. Features include real-time English-to-Nepali translation, text-to-audio functionality, and voice-to-text conversion. Expansion to additional local languages has also been planned.
Mini apps aimed at local businesses and startups
A major feature of NChat is its in-app App Store and mini app ecosystem, which the company said will allow startups and local businesses to create a simple web page or mini app using a drag-and-drop interface without coding. The feature has been presented as a way for businesses to communicate directly with customers, showcase products, and manage orders more efficiently.
“NChat empowers entrepreneurs to go online quickly and connect directly with their customers,” Charles Shahi, Chief Technology Officer of NavaNexa Tech, said.
Guests stress policy support and national digital alternatives
Speaking at the launch, Dr. Nanda Bahadur Singh, senior professor and former vice-chancellor of Mid-West University, said the platform could strengthen Nepal’s digital ecosystem through improved communication, mini-app development, and economic opportunities, while also emphasizing the need for enabling policies and legal frameworks so innovation can scale safely and inclusively.
Dr. Tshering Sherpa, Chief Executive Director of IdeaStudio Nepal, encouraged continued improvement and public adoption of Nepal-made digital products, stating that early technical issues can occur during launches and highlighting the importance of trusted national alternatives for digital self-reliance.
Launch program
The launch program featured a video premiere, a leadership overview, a live product demonstration, and a moderated question-and-answer session, followed by networking and media interactions.
