Ncell and NTC Offer Free Services to Keep Nepalis Connected Amid Unrest
Kathmandu — As the Generation Z protests escalated, Nepal’s major telecom operators, Ncell and Nepal Telecom (NTC), have stepped forward to ensure uninterrupted connectivity for citizens.
Ncell announced that it will provide free voice calls, internet, and SMS services nationwide for the next two days, enabling people to remain in contact with their families and loved ones during the crisis. In its statement, the company expressed deep regret over the recent vandalism at its central office and conveyed condolences to the families who lost members in the unrest. It also wished for the swift recovery of the injured.
“The priority at this difficult time is to make sure people can communicate and stay connected,” Ncell said, urging all parties to help safeguard telecommunications infrastructure. The operator highlighted that damage to such facilities could severely disrupt essential services for millions of Nepali.
Similarly, Nepal Telecom (NTC) has announced a special relief package, offering free data and voice services for three days. The initiative aims to help customers stay connected not only within Nepal but also with friends and family abroad.
Both companies emphasized that maintaining communication channels is vital during national emergencies, reassuring the public that they remain committed to keeping essential networks running despite the challenges.
