Nepal and China sign Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) cooperation framework

Nepal and China have officially signed the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) Cooperation Framework in Beijing. The signing ceremony was attended by Amrit Bahadur Rai, Secretary of Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Vice Chairperson of China’s National Development and Reform Commission.

The agreement was finalized on the third day of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s four-day official visit to China, following a joint statement by the two nations expressing their commitment to signing the framework soon. Nepal had initially joined the BRI by signing the framework in May 2017.
