Nepal Army deploys more troops for Rasuwa flood search and recovery

The Nepal Army has intensified its search and body recovery operation following public concerns over delays in locating people missing after last Wednesday’s devastating Bhotekoshi flood in Rasuwa.

Taking the concerns seriously, the Army has mobilized specialized teams to search for and recover bodies swept downstream by the flood.

An additional 1,200 personnel were deployed today along riverbanks stretching from Rasuwa to Chitwan. Teams have been stationed at potential search locations across the affected areas and along the Trishuli and Narayani rivers.

The Army had previously deployed 1,600 personnel for rescue, relief and temporary management of flood-affected communities. With the latest deployment, the total number of Nepal Army personnel mobilized for rescue, relief, search and recovery operations has reached 2,800.

Despite strong river currents and difficult geographical conditions, Army teams are continuing the operation and have given the recovery of missing victims the highest priority.
