Chitwan – The Nepal–India Cross-Border Tourism Connect 2026 will be held from October 26 to 28 with the aim of expanding tourism cooperation and attracting more Indian visitors to Nepal.
The programme is being jointly organised by the Non-Resident Nepali Association International Coordination Council and the Samriddha Chitwan Abhiyan. It will be held under the slogan, “Connecting borders, strengthening friendship and promoting tourism.”
Programme coordinator and NRNA ICC spokesperson Somnath Sapkota said the initiative seeks to promote Nepal more effectively in the Indian market, establish direct commercial relationships between tourism businesses from both countries and connect Nepali destinations with wider international tourism networks.
A delegation of 21 tourism entrepreneurs and representatives from different Indian cities will participate. They will meet Nepali tour operators, hotel and resort owners and local tourism stakeholders for business discussions and destination visits.
The programme will include business-to-business meetings, familiarisation visits and discussions on joint travel packages and ways to increase regular tourist movement between Nepal and India.
Organisers aim to develop an integrated tourism circuit connecting Lumbini, Ramgram, Devghat, Nawalpur and Chitwan. The circuit would combine Nepal’s religious, spiritual and cultural heritage with its natural, wildlife and adventure tourism experiences.
The initiative also seeks to connect Bharatpur Metropolitan City with Kapilvastu, Lumbini Sanskritik, Tilottama, Devdaha and Ramgram municipalities through a broader regional tourism network.
Sapkota said tourism promotion must go beyond distributing promotional materials. Bringing Indian tourism businesses directly to Nepali destinations would allow them to examine services, meet hospitality operators and develop practical, long-term partnerships.
