Nepal Launches ‘Devbhumi Nepal’ Campaign to Boost Spiritual Tourism
Kathmandu – The Government of Nepal has officially launched the “Devbhumi Nepal” campaign with the goal of establishing Nepal as a leading global destination for spiritual, religious, and cultural tourism. The announcement was made during the presentation of the government’s policies and programmes for the upcoming fiscal year, highlighting tourism as one of the country’s key priority sectors.
Through the campaign, Nepal plans to internationally promote major religious and heritage sites including Pashupatinath Temple, Lumbini, Janaki Temple, and Muktinath. The government aims to attract spiritual travelers, pilgrims, wellness tourists, and cultural visitors by showcasing Nepal’s deep religious history, natural beauty, and spiritual significance.
Officials have stated that the campaign will focus not only on tourism promotion but also on improving infrastructure, expanding tourism services, and increasing international visibility for Nepal as a peaceful and spiritually rich destination. The initiative is expected to contribute to economic growth by increasing tourist arrivals, supporting local businesses, creating employment opportunities, and strengthening communities connected to religious and cultural tourism.
The government also plans to promote wellness tourism, meditation retreats, yoga tourism, homestay experiences, and cultural tourism under the broader vision of the campaign. Tourism experts believe the “Devbhumi Nepal” initiative could help Nepal build a stronger global identity while preserving and promoting the country’s historic temples, traditions, and cultural heritage for future generations.
