Nepal records 1,42,223 Hotels and Restaurants nationwide
Nepal is home to a total of 1,42,223 establishments providing accommodation and dining services, according to the latest survey conducted by the Central Bureau of Statistics. These include hotels, restaurants, and similar hospitality businesses across the nation, serving as a vital part of the country’s economy.
Bagmati Province leads with the highest number of such establishments, contributing significantly to employment and economic growth. Nationwide, the hospitality sector provides jobs to over 9 lakh individuals, both directly and indirectly.
The survey also revealed that the total annual turnover of these businesses is valued at billions of rupees, highlighting their importance in Nepal’s tourism-driven economy. Additionally, the report indicates that many of these establishments are small to medium enterprises, emphasizing the need for focused policies to support their growth and sustainability.
Industry experts believe that despite challenges posed by the pandemic, the hospitality sector is gradually recovering, buoyed by increasing domestic and international travel. Stakeholders have called for better infrastructure, financial support, and streamlined regulations to further enhance this vital industry.
