Nepal Telecom introduces AI Robot ‘Maina’ for smarter customer support
Nepal Telecom has launched an AI-driven robot, ‘Maina,’ to enhance customer service efficiency. Unveiled at the Sundhara office, Maina is designed to answer over 600 frequently asked questions verbally, including account inquiries, service plans, and telecom guidance.
Developed collaboratively with engineering students, the robot demonstrates Nepal Telecom’s commitment to fostering local innovation. The trial phase will assess its effectiveness, with plans to expand the service nationwide.
Dinesh Chandra Panthi, Head of the Sundhara office, highlighted the robot’s potential in managing high visitor volumes, stating, “Maina will streamline interactions and significantly reduce wait times.” Future enhancements will enable navigation assistance and multilingual support in Nepali and English.
This initiative marks a milestone in telecom customer service, setting new standards through AI and automation.
