Nepali fighter Ravindra Dhant reaches road to UFC season 5 semifinals
Kathmandu-Nepali mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Ravindra Dhant has advanced to the semifinals of Road to UFC Season 5.In the quarterfinal match held yesterday at Galaxy Arena, Dhant defeated Filipino fighter Kimbert Alintozon via technical knockout (TKO) in the second round. He became the first Nepali fighter to reach the final four of the competition.
Dhant fought aggressively from the beginning of the match and landed a series of strikes near the end of the second round. The referee then stopped the fight. According to the official result from the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), he secured the victory through “ground and pound.”In the semifinals, Dhant will face Australian fighter Kasib Murdoch, who defeated Japan’s Yunosuke Minami in the quarterfinals.
“Road to UFC” is a selection tournament designed to help Asian fighters earn entry into the UFC. Winners of each weight division receive a UFC contract.
