Nepali people learning skills of Tai Chi in Kathmandu
Kathmandu: The Taijiquan training comes to an end with a closing ceremony held on the occasion of Duanwu (Dragon Boat) festival in Kathmandu on Thursday.
Around 20 participants demonstrate their learned skills during the event. China Cultural Center in Nepal organized the three-month Tai Chi training program in Kathmandu. “Nepali people will get benefit by learning the basic skills of Tai Chi, a Chinese martial art, with the help of the training program,” said Xiao Jiang, Director at the China Cultural Center in Nepal.
The word “Tai” means “Supreme”, “Ji” (or Chi) means “Boundary” and the word “Quan” (or Chuan) means “fist” or “movement”. Together the term “Taijiquan” implies a method of movement to cultivate a form of power that has no boundary.
Macha Ratna Maharjan, the trainer remarked “the learning during those training days will help the students to promote health, self-defense skills, and improve concentration”. Zongzi, a traditional Chinese rice-pudding special food of the Duanwu festival was also served to the guests during the event.
