NSL 2026 to Bring Home Stadium Excitement Across Nepal
Kathmandu – The fourth season of the Nepal Super League is scheduled to begin on Bhadra 20 (September 5, 2026) in a Home & Away double round-robin format.
Education and Sports Minister Sasmit Pokharel has expressed confidence that the Nepal Super League (NSL) will help elevate Nepali football to new heights.
Speaking at the announcement program for the upcoming edition of the league in Lalitpur on Sunday, Minister Pokharel said franchise leagues play a significant role in the development of sports. He added that the government is moving forward with education and sports together, stressing that grassroots sports development is possible through schools.
“Future players of Nepal are in schools, so investment in that sector must increase,” he said.
The league is also preparing for major expansion, with plans to increase the number of participating clubs to 10–12 teams. Around five new franchises are expected to be officially added.
Organizers are also studying the possibility of hosting matches outside Kathmandu as part of the league’s biggest structural transformation so far. The competition is expected to run for around three to four months.
The upcoming season is being viewed as the beginning of a new chapter for Nepali club football.
