Photojournalist Onta Hosts Solo Photo Exhibition on World Photography Day
Kathmandu – On the occasion of the 186th World Photography Day, the National Forum of Photojournalists (NFPJ) celebrated the day with a special photo exhibition. This year, the organization highlighted the event by hosting a solo exhibition titled “Flight and Frame” by its central president, Pradeep Raj Onta.
The exhibition was held on August 19, at the Hanuman Dhoka premises in Kathmandu from 2 PM to 7 PM. It featured 60 photographs captured by President Onta during his tenure as the official photographer of former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda”. The showcased photographs focused on Nepal’s diverse geography and tourist destinations, captured from aerial perspectives across various districts of the country.

This marked the first solo exhibition organized by NFPJ Nepal. President Onta announced that the organization plans to host solo exhibitions of other members in the future. Onta is also a senior photojournalist at the National News Agency (RSS).
The exhibition was inaugurated jointly by former NFPJ presidents and senior photojournalists Min Ratna Bajracharya and Kavindra Man Shakya. The event drew significant participation from NFPJ members, photographers, journalists, and photography enthusiasts.
President Onta emphasized that the exhibition was aimed at the general public, allowing local residents, domestic tourists, and international visitors to engage with the photographs.
According to General Secretary Ghanshyam Shrestha, organizing this solo exhibition not only gave special meaning to World Photography Day but also aimed to highlight the importance and contributions of photojournalism to society.
