Kathmandu — A one-day workshop on color and art photography was held in Kathmandu to enhance the skills of working photojournalists.
Organised by the National Forum of Photo Journalists (NFPJ) in collaboration with the Art Department of Shahid Shukra Secondary School, the workshop focused on color theory, composition and printing techniques.
Senior artist and instructor Ashok Man Singh explained the scientific and technical aspects of color, including differences between colors seen on digital screens and those reproduced in print. He also highlighted the importance of coordination among photographers, designers and printing professionals in producing quality visual publications.
Artist Keshav Raj Khanal discussed the role of color and composition in making photographs more expressive, while former Nepal Academy of Fine Arts member-secretary Devendra Thumkeli said photography is an important part of contemporary art.
NFPJ President Pradip Raj Wanta said similar workshops would be organised in the future to strengthen photojournalists’ professional skills. Workshop coordinator Sagar Basnet added that regular training helps photographers develop new ideas and improve their creative approach.
