Pokhara to Host 20th Fewa New Year Festival 2082 with Free Entry
With the primary goal of preserving Nepali culture, promoting traditional Nepali cuisine, and encouraging both domestic and international tourism, preparations are underway in Pokhara, the tourism capital of Nepal, for the 20th Fewa New Year Festival 2082. The festival will be held along approximately 3 kilometers of Lakeside Street, from Chaitra 30 to Baisakh 1 (April 12–13, 2025). Entry to the festival will be free for all.
The festival will begin with a cultural procession aimed at joyfully celebrating the Nepali New Year and promoting it nationally and internationally, while also safeguarding the country’s unique cultural heritage. Special emphasis will be placed on showcasing and promoting Nepali cuisine throughout the event.
Guests visiting Pokhara during the festival will receive a 20% discount on published rates at hotels affiliated with the organizing association. Other tourism-related businesses and entrepreneurs are also expected to offer various discounts and special offers. The primary aim of the festival is to protect Nepali culture, boost tourism in Pokhara, extend tourist stays, and contribute to the local economy.
To promote the event, the association, with support from the Nepal Tourism Board, has already launched the “Jau Hai Pokhara” (Let’s Go to Pokhara) campaign in major cities of Eastern Nepal, inviting residents to participate in the festival. Tourism packages like “Ghumgham Pokhara,” “Educational Tour Pokhara,” and “Honeymoon Pokhara” have also been announced for tourists. As Pokhara Metropolitan City has declared 2025 as the Pokhara Visit Year, this grand festival is expected to significantly support the objectives of the visit year.
To ensure the festival’s success, more than 21 committees have been formed along with designated area coordinators.
